Happy National Driver Appreciation Week!

Yesterday was the start of National Driver Appreciation Week which lasts until the 19th of September. It’s the one part of the year that is nationally recognized for taking special care to honor all the professional truck drivers that are responsible for providing our country with the most exceptional role in our lives. After all, if you’re eating something right now, it was brought on a truck. Wearing clothes? Yep it traveled on a truck even if you sewed it yourself. Because even the thread and fabric would have to get to the store somehow. Basically, truck drivers are the backbone of our economy and what “drives” our lives as we know it.

3.4 million people in the US drive professionally to ensure that all our products get delivered securely on time. Plus, they are responsible for making sure our highways are safe. Americans seldom stop and think about how vital it is to our global economy to keep thriving.

“National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is a tremendous tradition, one that ATA is proud to carry on each year,” said ATA President and CEO Bill Graves. “We value the men and women who safely deliver our nation’s goods, and keep America moving forward, and we encourage fleets and shippers to honor their drivers for their hard work and commitment to the industry during this week and every week.”

The first ever National Truck Driver Appreciation Week started in 1988 led by the American Trucking Associations (ATA) which represents over 50 trucking associations and events in the industry.

Drivers can help celebrate this week by sharing your story. You know, just go spread the word about the industry and the importance of trucking in our nation. Educate the public so that eventually policymakers will know how to ensure that the transporters in America are able to safely perform their jobs. Companies are doing little things to celebrate the week as well.

“This year’s NTDAW logo incorporates the Trucking Moves America Forward insignia, the banner of our industrywide image movement,” said ATA Chairman Duane Long, chairman of Longistics, Raleigh, N.C. “It underscores how much we appreciate the effort our drivers make to move our nation and our economy forward.”

AllTruckJobs.com has done it’s part to celebrate National Truck Driver Appreciation Week by giving away hats and Amazon gift cards to some loyal trucking companies in the industry that we work with.
