About the Position

As a Yard Switcher, you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth movement of trailers in and out of docks at our customer's location. This position offers a predictable schedule and clear weekly hours, giving you a better idea of your earnings and allowing you to plan ahead. With consistent freight loads and regular tasks, you can expect stability and no surprises.

• Average $1,357.50 per week / $70,590 per year
• Starting at $29 per hour
• Overtime pay at time and a half

• Monday - Friday, with some Saturday work as needed
• 1st shift: work 8 - 10 hours per day
  • 6:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
• 2nd shift: work 8 - 10 hours per day
  • 4:00 p.m. - 12:30 a.m.
• Average 40 - 45 hours per week

• Ensuring the timely movement of trailers in and out of docks on-site at the customer's location
• Communicate via 2-way radio with associates to move trailers in and out of designated doors
• Stage trailers (empty and loaded) across various areas of the property
• Work in three key loading areas:
  • Fertilizer plant
  • Feed plant
  • Warehouse

Requirements

• Must live within a 75-mile radius
• Must have 6 months of full-time verifiable tractor-trailer and/or switching experience within the past 3 years
• Must have Class A CDL
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• No convictions for reckless driving within the past 5 years
• No convictions for DUI within the past 5 years
• No suspensions or revocations within the last 5 years
• No serious violations within the previous 12 months (15 mph or greater, following too closely, improper passing, traffic offense committed in a CMV in connection with fatality)
• No more than 3 moving violations within the past 3 years
• No preventable DOT recordable accidents within the past 3 years

• Open/Close trailer door - force requirement: 46 lbs
• Hook/Unhook trailer - force requirement: 90 lbs
• Perform pre-trip inspections
• Drive
• Count freight
• Complete fuel tickets
• Regular predictable attendance
• Enter/Exit a Commercial Motor Vehicle
• Enter/Exit the rear of a trailer from ground level
