There were approximately 5.5 million of these types of trucks on the road reportedly in 2012, but since then the number has grown substantially. Reefer trucks use a cooling system of either ice chilling, dry-ice (carbon dioxide), or are run by a refrigerator system to ensure their products maintain the highest level of quality upon delivery.
